When a board-topper like Quinshon Judkins slides to No. 168, you do not overthink it, and the Cowboys did not.
A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. Hemingway has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a lead back with juice at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Malaki Starks at No. 45 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
The board fumbled Jihaad Campbell all the way to Round 3, Pick 12, and they scooped it up. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Steal is underselling it; Jake Majors at pick No. 151 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
You do not let a running back like Quinshon Judkins reach the 168th overall pick and blink. They did not. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Somehow Kevin Winston Jr. was still sitting there in slot 170, and they pounced on premier safety value. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
They barely believed it either: Smael Mondon Jr. still on the board at pick 171. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Taking Jaeden Roberts in the 189th pick is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Tonka Hemingway in Round 6, Pick 34 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Brant Kuithe at the Round 7 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
