After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Vikings committed. Bo Nix is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
Every board in the league had Hall lower, and that gap is the story. The phones were where this weekend was really won. The Henderson value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 27 they get a passer to set the clock by. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Chop Robinson. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Byron Murphy II at No. 42 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Nice patience on Malachi Corley, who had no business lasting to the Round 3 slot. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
No edge and no loss on Ray Davis in the 108th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A quiet steal in pick No. 130: Kris Abrams-Draine for less than the market said. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
By-the-book stuff, Sincere Haynesworth at slot 148 squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A straight-up fair deal on Layden Robinson at the 160th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Gabe Hall. A need, and now a little less of one.
LaDarius Henderson at the Round 6 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Daequan Hardy in pick 230. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Joshua Cephus in No. 233 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
