If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Vikings, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend.

A whole weekend of picks and safety is somehow still a want. Every board in the league had Travis lower, and that gap is the story.

However the rest shakes out, Simpson at that price is a win they earned.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Chris Braswell and all.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.28 · Pick 28 · Chris Braswell · LB-EDGE · rank 32
In No. 28 they get a double-digit-sack hope. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.24 · Pick 56 · Jonathon Brooks · RB · rank 62
Jonathon Brooks in slot 56 is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.24 · Pick 87 · Mike Sainristil · CB · rank 83
Fair-plus on Mike Sainristil, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R3.36 · Pick 99 · Tyler Davis · DT · rank 96
Tyler Davis in pick No. 99 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A need, and now a little less of one.
R4.8 · Pick 108 · Jacob Cowing · WR · rank 100
The board had Jacob Cowing higher than the 108th overall pick, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R4.12 · Pick 112 · Jordan Travis · QB · rank 132
Jordan Travis at Round 4, Pick 12 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.30 · Pick 130 · Drake Nugent · C · rank 144
Drake Nugent at the 130th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R5.12 · Pick 148 · Ty'Ron Hopper · LB · rank 149
Ty'Ron Hopper at pick 148 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
R5.24 · Pick 160 · Jaylin Simpson · CB · rank 147
Jaylin Simpson at No. 160 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
R5.30 · Pick 166 · Layden Robinson · OG · rank 163
Layden Robinson in pick No. 166 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.4 · Pick 179 · Roger Rosengarten · OT · rank 170
Roger Rosengarten slid further than he should have, and the 179th pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R7.10 · Pick 230 · Joshua Cephus · WR · rank 230
By-the-book stuff, Joshua Cephus at Round 7, Pick 10 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
