Minnesota Vikings

Larceny in the 225th pick lands the Vikings a B, Logan Jr. and all.

The trade table was a mismatch, and the Vikings were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

They banked enough surplus on Logan Jr. to cover a lot of smaller sins. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Will Hernandez gives the group a proven body among the projects.

Every board in the league had Raym lower, and that gap is the story.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.27 · Pick 27 · Kamari Lassiter · CB · rank 26
In the Round 1 slot they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value.
R2.3 · Pick 35 · Chop Robinson · DE-EDGE · rank 38
No drama and no debate, Chop Robinson went about where he belonged in the 35th overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R2.10 · Pick 42 · Byron Murphy II · DL · rank 43
A straight-up fair deal on Byron Murphy II at No. 42, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
R3.2 · Pick 66 · Ruke Orhorhoro · DT · rank 69
They paid sticker price for Ruke Orhorhoro in pick 66, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R4.8 · Pick 108 · Ray Davis · RB · rank 109
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ray Davis. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R4.30 · Pick 130 · Jordan Travis · QB · rank 132
Jordan Travis at pick No. 130 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.12 · Pick 148 · Javion Cohen · OG · rank 145
They did well to land Javion Cohen in the 148th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.24 · Pick 160 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 151
Braelon Allen slid further than he should have, and the Round 5 slot is lovely value for the running back. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R5.30 · Pick 166 · Chau Smith-Wade · CB · rank 158
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Chau Smith-Wade at slot 166 is the proof. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
R6.4 · Pick 179 · Andrew Raym · C · rank 187
A reach for Andrew Raym in pick No. 179; a little patience would have been rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R7.5 · Pick 225 · Kenny Logan Jr. · S · rank 203
They will replay Kenny Logan Jr. at No. 225 for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R7.7 · Pick 227 · Darius Muasau · LB · rank 215
Nice patience on Darius Muasau, who had no business lasting to Round 7, Pick 7. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R7.10 · Pick 230 · Zakhari Franklin · WR · rank 223
Zakhari Franklin in pick 230 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
