The one they had to fix is still broken. The Vikings left tight end untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
They banked enough surplus on Green to cover a lot of smaller sins. They are betting Limmer proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 17 they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
T.J. Tampa at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
No edge and no loss on J.J. McCarthy in pick 48; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Leonard Taylor III. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They jumped the gun on Beaux Limmer, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
By-the-book stuff, Braelon Allen at the 148th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid sticker price for Layden Robinson in the 160th pick, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Edefuan Ulofoshio in No. 166. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Javon Baker in the Round 6 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Gabe Hall in slot 195 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jalen Green at the 230th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
