They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Bo Nix is the Vikings' quarterback, full stop. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
Williams at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Logue has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
Bo Nix at the 23rd overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
By-the-book stuff, Byron Murphy II at No. 42 squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A clean, defensible pick in slot 77 with a little surplus value in Ricky Pearsall. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Khyree Jackson in pick 118. A minor need, but a need all the same.
MarShawn Lloyd in the 130th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board had cheaper options than Sincere Haynesworth at Round 5, Pick 12, and it noticed. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A conviction pick on Layden Robinson at the Round 5 slot that the board grades a round light. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No edge and no loss on Austin Booker in pick No. 160; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 5 slot, where Ty'Ron Hopper graded well above the range. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Andru Phillips at the 179th pick. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
They robbed the room for Isaiah Williams here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Zion Logue at slot 236 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They took Mark Perry at par in the 239th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
