The search is over. The Vikings handed the keys to Bo Nix, and the whole operation now runs on his development. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A- to show for it.

Davis falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. If Hall pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Bo Nix · QB · rank 22
In No. 25 they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.10 · Pick 42 · Kamari Lassiter · CB · rank 26
They let Kamari Lassiter come to them and pounced at pick No. 42. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Trey Benson · RB · rank 72
Nice patience on Trey Benson, who had no business lasting to slot 88. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R4.8 · Pick 108 · DeWayne Carter · DT · rank 101
DeWayne Carter in pick 108 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R4.30 · Pick 130 · Beau Brade · S · rank 110
The board fumbled Beau Brade all the way to the Round 4 slot, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R5.12 · Pick 148 · Javion Cohen · OG · rank 149
Javion Cohen in the 148th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R5.24 · Pick 160 · Sincere Haynesworth · C · rank 157
Sincere Haynesworth at the 160th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.30 · Pick 166 · Austin Booker · DL-EDGE · rank 159
They did well to land Austin Booker in Round 5, Pick 30, just ahead of his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.4 · Pick 179 · Gabe Hall · DL · rank 207
Gabe Hall at pick No. 179 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A need, and now a little less of one.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Isaiah Davis · RB · rank 184
Circle this one: Isaiah Davis at pick 217 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R7.10 · Pick 230 · Jha'Quan Jackson · WR · rank 213
A quiet steal in the 230th pick: Jha'Quan Jackson for less than the market said. The roster fit checks out.
