Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys robbed the room for Bryant. Final grade: B+.

You build a draft on nights like this. Pat Bryant had no business being available in Round 6, Pick 28, and the Cowboys did the only sane thing and turned in the card.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. Adding Jordan Addison by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.17 · Pick 17 · Ashton Jeanty · RB · rank 2
In the 17th pick they get a bell-cow for the offense, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · JT Tuimoloau · DE-EDGE · rank 49
JT Tuimoloau at slot 44 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R2.17 · Pick 49 · Jihaad Campbell · LB · rank 41
Jihaad Campbell slipping to No. 49 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.4 · Pick 106 · Donovan Jackson · OT · rank 82
Donovan Jackson in pick No. 106 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.33 · Pick 171 · Kyle McCord · QB · rank 120
Kyle McCord at Round 5, Pick 33 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R5.36 · Pick 174 · Quincy Riley · CB · rank 171
A clean, defensible pick in the 174th overall pick with a little surplus value in Quincy Riley. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R6.28 · Pick 204 · Pat Bryant · WR · rank 141
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick 204 is the definition of value, full stop. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R6.35 · Pick 211 · JJ Pegues · DT · rank 176
Taking JJ Pegues in the Round 6 slot is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R7.23 · Pick 239 · Oronde Gadsden II · TE · rank 181
Circle this one: Oronde Gadsden II at Round 7, Pick 23 is a fall that decides a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R7.31 · Pick 247 · Clay Webb · OG · rank 245
They paid sticker price for Clay Webb in the 247th pick, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
