The Packers spent real capital to be 30 picks early on Isaiah Davis, and the board is going to hold them to it.
The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The Bullock pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at cornerback, wide receiver and other spots.
Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Laiatu Latu at slot 25 is money in the bank, a edge rusher taken below his worth. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A straight-up fair deal on Cooper Beebe at the 41st pick, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Fair-plus on Junior Colson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Renardo Green in the Round 3 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A minor itch, scratched.
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the 91st overall pick on Calen Bullock with cornerback, wide receiver and other spots unsolved.
They reached into another round for Isaiah Davis, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kitan Oladapo at No. 169 is the proof. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
They robbed the room for Ty'Ron Hopper here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
They paid sticker price for Garret Greenfield in Round 6, Pick 44, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Austin Reed at the 245th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Nick Gargiulo in slot 255 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
