The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Joe Milton III, Round 7, Pick 25, roughly 44 picks past where he belonged. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
Reaching for Davis left real value on the table behind him. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 26 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
They paid up for Edgerrin Cooper at the Round 2 slot when waiting would have done the job. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A big swing on Max Melton at No. 58, well ahead of any board in the building. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Bralen Trice in slot 88 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A tidy little value on Dadrion Taylor-Demerson in the 91st pick, a step better than break-even. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Dominick Puni in pick No. 92 lands just on the right side of the ledger. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Isaiah Davis at pick 126 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A straight-up fair deal on Malik Mustapha at the 169th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
They jumped the gun on Garret Greenfield, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A need, and now a little less of one.
You do not let a linebacker like Curtis Jacobs reach Round 6, Pick 44 and blink. They did not. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
A quiet steal in No. 220: Caedan Wallace for less than the market said. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Joe Milton III in the Round 7 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Jordan Magee in slot 255, plain and simple. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
