Green Bay Packers

The steal of the weekend belongs to the Packers and Rosemy-Jacksaint: B+.

The board owed the Packers one, and it paid up: Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, the No. 195 name on the board, sitting there at No. 245 like a gift left on the doorstep.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. With tight end unsolved, spending premium capital on linebacker is the choice that costs them.

They are betting Lee proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Troy Fautanu · OT · rank 22
In the 25th pick they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · DJ James · CB · rank 53
Nothing to complain about; DJ James went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.4 · Pick 68 · Jaylen Wright · RB · rank 71
They paid sticker price for Jaylen Wright in Round 3, Pick 4, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Jonah Elliss · DE-EDGE · rank 88
Jonah Elliss at No. 88 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.27 · Pick 90 · Jaden Hicks · S · rank 85
Jaden Hicks in the 90th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Dominick Puni · OT · rank 89
By-the-book stuff, Dominick Puni at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R4.3 · Pick 103 · Cedric Gray · LB · rank 113
Cedric Gray in slot 103 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R4.23 · Pick 123 · Blake Fisher · OT · rank 118
Fair-plus on Blake Fisher, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · James Williams · LB · rank 124
They zigged when the board said zag, taking James Williams at linebacker with tight end open.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Isaac Guerendo · RB · rank 128
Isaac Guerendo in No. 126 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R5.1 · Pick 137 · Jarrian Jones · CB · rank 136
They took Jarrian Jones at par in pick 137, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.26 · Pick 162 · Tykee Smith · S · rank 160
No edge and no loss on Tykee Smith in the 162nd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Dwight McGlothern · CB · rank 161
Dwight McGlothern at slot 169 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R6.19 · Pick 194 · Logan Lee · DL · rank 211
A reach on Logan Lee in the 194th pick; the board had better options right there. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Joe Milton III · QB · rank 200
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Joe Milton III. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Jha'Quan Jackson · WR · rank 179
Somehow Jha'Quan Jackson was still sitting there in pick No. 219, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The roster fit checks out.
R7.6 · Pick 226 · Myles Harden · CB · rank 209
A tidy bit of business in pick 226, where Myles Harden graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R7.17 · Pick 237 · Jordan Magee · LB · rank 222
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jordan Magee at the Round 7 slot is the proof. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint · WR · rank 195
Taking Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in Round 7, Pick 25 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R7.27 · Pick 247 · Tylan Grable · OT · rank 231
Tylan Grable slipping to No. 247 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Tatum Bethune · LB · rank 228
Tatum Bethune at slot 255 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
