The Vikings ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A- to show for it.
Landing Jones that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting Limmer proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
The Vikings paired the rookies with proven help, Samaje Perine leading the way.
Bottom line, with Kamari Lassiter leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Kamari Lassiter in slot 27, and that is fine. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Kris Jenkins in the 49th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They did well to land Brenden Rice in No. 76, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They took Spencer Rattler at par in pick 97, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Tykee Smith slipping to Round 4, Pick 8 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No drama and no debate, Darius Robinson went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Beaux Limmer at slot 130 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board had cheaper options than Javion Cohen at pick No. 137, and it noticed. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
MarShawn Lloyd at pick 148 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Edefuan Ulofoshio is a better player than Round 5, Pick 24 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They will replay Jaylin Simpson at the 165th pick for years; that is how good the value is. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
A straight-up fair deal on Nathan Thomas at the 173rd overall pick, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jaylan Ford in the Round 6 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Nothing to complain about; Christian Jones went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Joshua Cephus at slot 230 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Sheridan Jones in pick No. 233 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
