It is the swing that defines the weekend: Andrew Armstrong in the 145th pick, a good 131 spots before the room expected him.
Getting Lambert-Smith where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 4 they get an every-down engine for the run game. A clean fit for the roster.
Value with a capital V on Jalon Walker in the 38th overall pick, a genuine coup. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Mason Taylor in pick No. 69 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A straight-up fair deal on Donovan Jackson at the 77th pick, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Nice patience on Jaylin Noel, who had no business lasting to No. 105. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Andrew Armstrong at pick 145 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, KeAndre Lambert-Smith in the Round 7 slot, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Quinn Carroll in Round 7, Pick 4 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Garrett Dellinger at pick No. 240 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
