Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Jets were there to profit. Kamari Ramsey, the No. 74 name on the board, should have been long gone before Round 4, Pick 3.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 2nd overall pick they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Arvell Reese at the Round 1 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Fair-plus on KC Concepcion, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It fills a real need, too.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Zion Young. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Circle this one: Kamari Ramsey at pick No. 103 is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A tidy bit of business in slot 140, where Oscar Delp graded well above the range. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Nothing to complain about; Febechi Nwaiwu went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Chase Roberts slid further than he should have, and Round 7, Pick 12 is lovely value for the wide receiver. A need, and now a little less of one.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Andre Fuller in No. 242. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
