Start where it matters. The Commanders took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.

They are betting Bell proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The Ali value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.4 · Pick 4 · Jayden Daniels · QB · rank 8
In the Round 1 slot they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
R1.27 · Pick 27 · Troy Fautanu · OT · rank 29
In No. 27 they get a blindside protector at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.3 · Pick 35 · Bralen Trice · DE-EDGE · rank 37
They took Bralen Trice at par in pick No. 35, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
R2.4 · Pick 36 · Chop Robinson · DE-EDGE · rank 35
Chop Robinson in slot 36 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R2.8 · Pick 40 · Ja'Tavion Sanders · TE · rank 54
The board had cheaper options than Ja'Tavion Sanders at pick 40, and it noticed. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · Zach Frazier · C · rank 65
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Zach Frazier. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.37 · Pick 100 · Dominick Puni · OT · rank 103
Dominick Puni in the 100th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.2 · Pick 102 · Jaheim Bell · TE · rank 140
A real head-scratcher, Jaheim Bell in Round 4, Pick 2 is miles ahead of his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.5 · Pick 141 · Drake Nugent · C · rank 148
Drake Nugent at pick No. 141 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R6.6 · Pick 181 · Chau Smith-Wade · CB · rank 162
They robbed the room for Chau Smith-Wade here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R7.3 · Pick 223 · Rasheen Ali · RB · rank 196
Rasheen Ali in the Round 7 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
