Houston Texans

Best value of the weekend goes to the Texans for Price: B.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Jadarian Price tumbling to the Texans in slot 106 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.

They are betting Virgil proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

They left with running back solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.6 · Pick 38 · Arvell Reese · LB · rank 7
Arvell Reese in the 38th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R2.15 · Pick 47 · Kenyon Sadiq · TE · rank 19
Kenyon Sadiq at pick No. 47 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R2.27 · Pick 59 · Monroe Freeling · OT · rank 26
Taking Monroe Freeling in the Round 2 slot is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Lee Hunter · DT · rank 48
They barely believed it either: Lee Hunter still on the board at No. 69. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R4.6 · Pick 106 · Jadarian Price · RB · rank 69
A running back of that caliber at slot 106 is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.13 · Pick 113 · Keylan Rutledge · OG · rank 114
Keylan Rutledge at Round 4, Pick 13 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
R5.1 · Pick 141 · Reggie Virgil · WR · rank 165
Reggie Virgil in pick 141 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R5.27 · Pick 167 · Jakobe Thomas · S · rank 140
You do not let a safety like Jakobe Thomas reach the 167th pick and blink. They did not. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R7.27 · Pick 243 · Thaddeus Dixon · CB · rank 218
Somehow Thaddeus Dixon was still sitting there in the 243rd pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
