The board owed the Dolphins one, and it paid up: Jarrian Jones, the No. 136 name on the board, sitting there at pick 198 like a gift left on the doorstep. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
If Hall Jr. pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
On the needs board they went 3 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd overall pick they get a building block for the line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
They reached a country mile for Michael Hall Jr. at pick No. 55, and the board is aghast. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Xavier Worthy slid further than he should have, and the Round 2 slot is lovely value for the wide receiver. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Caelen Carson at No. 132 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Taking Johnny Wilson in Round 5, Pick 22 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They robbed the room for Isaiah Adams here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Somehow Jarrian Jones was still sitting there in slot 198, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
They barely believed it either: Caedan Wallace still on the board at the 241st pick. It fills a real need, too.
