The phones were a trap the Vikings kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. A D that will need time and luck to look better.
Jayden Daniels gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Abrams-Draine.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 2 they get a No. 1 receiver. A clean fit for the roster.
Jayden Daniels at Round 1, Pick 11 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A cornerback of that caliber at No. 129 is the definition of value, full stop. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They read the board right and Isaac Guerendo was the payoff at the Round 5 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Fair-plus on Josh Newton, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
A tidy bit of business in pick 177, where Beau Brade graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Value with a capital V on Nathaniel Watson in the 220th overall pick, a genuine coup. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
KT Leveston slipping to the 230th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
The board had Tylan Grable higher than pick 232, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
