Whoever sat across the table from the Browns should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.
They will need Allar to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
The Slaughter pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd pick they get a ballhawk on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Blake Miller at No. 39 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Good price on Omar Cooper Jr. in the Round 2 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They read the board right and Jake Slaughter was the payoff at the 70th overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Trey Zuhn III in pick No. 110 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The roster fit checks out.
Drew Allar at Round 4, Pick 27 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
