Grand theft in No. 92: the Jets steal Taaffe and grade out a C.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Jets did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.

The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Taaffe steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.12 · Pick 12 · Arvell Reese · LB · rank 7
In the Round 1 slot they get the heartbeat of the defense. More want than need.
R1.20 · Pick 20 · Kenyon Sadiq · TE · rank 19
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get a seam-stretching tight end at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
R2.1 · Pick 33 · Olaivavega Ioane · OG · rank 22
A slide stopped in pick 33, with Olaivavega Ioane worth more than the price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Brandon Cisse · CB · rank 36
A tidy bit of business in slot 44, where Brandon Cisse graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.28 · Pick 92 · Michael Taaffe · S · rank 68
They robbed the room for Michael Taaffe here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
