After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
They are betting Okie-Anoma proves the room right and everyone else wrong. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 5 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A clean fit for the roster.
In the Round 1 slot they get a true top target at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Kingsley Suamataia at pick No. 68 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Cam Hart in pick 103. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Fair-plus on Beau Brade, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Luke McCaffrey in Round 5, Pick 6; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Tip Reiman in the 180th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cornelius Johnson. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jaylan Ford at the 193rd overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Eyabi Okie-Anoma. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
