Somebody in pick No. 92 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Cowboys sat still while Mike Washington Jr., the No. 72 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Olaivavega Ioane at Round 1, Pick 20 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board fumbled Mike Washington Jr. all the way to the 92nd pick, and they scooped it up. A need, and now a little less of one.
Bryce Lance in pick No. 112 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Skyler Gill-Howard in No. 152 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Zane Durant. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Domani Jackson at slot 189 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A straight-up fair deal on Landon Robinson at the 218th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Kaelon Black at the Round 7 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
