The rest of the league will want that one back. Kaleb Johnson tumbling to the Chiefs in the 132nd pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
Reaching for Truss left real value on the table behind him. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
Jack Sawyer in pick No. 69 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Taking Colston Loveland in the 95th pick is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Steal is underselling it; Deone Walker at the Round 4 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Kaleb Johnson at Round 4, Pick 31 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
Ricky White III at No. 203 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Xavier Truss at pick 226 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Dayon Hayes at slot 255 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
