Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Patriots spent pick No. 63 on Jude Bowry, a name the board had a full 67 spots lower. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Sarratt.

Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.31 · Pick 31 · Akheem Mesidor · DE-EDGE · rank 37
No edge and no loss on Akheem Mesidor in the 31st overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R2.31 · Pick 63 · Jude Bowry · OT · rank 130
A big swing on Jude Bowry at Round 2, Pick 31, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R3.31 · Pick 95 · Elijah Sarratt · WR · rank 77
Elijah Sarratt at pick No. 95 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Malik Benson · WR · rank 146
Malik Benson in No. 125 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.31 · Pick 131 · Dametrious Crownover · OT · rank 145
A reach for Dametrious Crownover in the 131st pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R5.31 · Pick 171 · Tanner Koziol · TE · rank 167
Tanner Koziol at slot 171 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R6.10 · Pick 191 · Justin Jefferson · LB · rank 208
Justin Jefferson in Round 6, Pick 10 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A minor itch, scratched.
R6.17 · Pick 198 · Ephesians Prysock · CB · rank 191
A clean, defensible pick in No. 198 with a little surplus value in Ephesians Prysock. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R6.21 · Pick 202 · Bobby Jamison-Travis · DT · rank 218
They liked Bobby Jamison-Travis enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 202. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R6.31 · Pick 212 · Jimmy Rolder · LB · rank 230
They reached into another round for Jimmy Rolder, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
R7.31 · Pick 247 · Latrell McCutchin Sr. · CB · rank 231
They let Latrell McCutchin Sr. come to them and pounced at the 247th pick. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
