After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Giants committed. Michael Penix Jr. is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Jones. The phones were where this weekend was really won. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 7th overall pick they get a difference-maker at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In pick No. 12 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. A real need, handled.
Nice patience on Dominick Puni, who had no business lasting to slot 106. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Nothing to complain about; Cole Bishop went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Steal is underselling it; Josh Newton at Round 5, Pick 5 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They barely believed it either: Isaac Guerendo still on the board at No. 146. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
The board fumbled Christian Jones all the way to pick 183, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
