Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Cowboys, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D.
Jayden Daniels is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. Whittington has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Jackson.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and tight end is still a hole.

A straight-up fair deal on Jayden Daniels at the Round 1 slot, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
In pick 24 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A premium they did not need to pay, T'Vondre Sweat a notch or two before his time. The roster fit checks out.
They took Jonathon Brooks at par in pick No. 56, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They read the board right and Cooper Beebe was the payoff at the 87th overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
You do not let a cornerback like Khyree Jackson reach slot 124 and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board had cheaper options than Josh Proctor at No. 174, and it noticed. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Omar Speights slipping to Round 6, Pick 37 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jordan Whittington in the 245th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
