They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. J.J. McCarthy is the Commanders' quarterback, full stop. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.

The cost of the Irving reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Hunt at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
