The Commanders spent the pick that matters most on J.J. McCarthy, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. The bottom line is a respectable B+.

They are betting Cephus proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.

Jackson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
