Start where it matters. The Patriots took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
Every board in the league had Bell lower, and that gap is the story. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. The Allen value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Jayden Daniels went about where he belonged in the 8th overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Rome Odunze in Round 2, Pick 2 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Tyler Guyton at pick 43 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Patrick Paul in No. 48 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Khyree Jackson at the 98th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Value said wait; Jaheim Bell in pick No. 103 says they were not listening. It fills a real need, too.
Braelon Allen at slot 182 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
