They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. Reaching for Cole left real value on the table behind him.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Drake Maye in Round 1, Pick 3 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Nothing to complain about; Adonai Mitchell went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A straight-up fair deal on Patrick Paul at the 68th pick, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They took Cole Bishop at par in slot 103, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jarrian Jones in the 137th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A reach for Myles Cole in No. 180; a little patience would have been rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A premium they did not need to pay, Ryan Flournoy a notch or two before his time. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
