New England Patriots

The Patriots checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Jordan Travis at Round 4, Pick 4 is 32 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

Estime falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. Dillon Radunz gives the group a proven body among the projects.

The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.15 · Pick 15 · JC Latham · OT · rank 18
By-the-book stuff, JC Latham at pick 15 squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
R2.2 · Pick 34 · Troy Fautanu · OT · rank 29
Fair-plus on Troy Fautanu, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R2.6 · Pick 38 · Patrick Paul · OT · rank 47
They went early on Patrick Paul in pick No. 38, and the value did not follow. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R2.16 · Pick 48 · Ja'Lynn Polk · WR · rank 55
Ja'Lynn Polk at the 48th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.4 · Pick 68 · Sedrick Van Pran · C · rank 90
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Sedrick Van Pran well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R3.18 · Pick 82 · Christian Mahogany · OG · rank 79
They did well to land Christian Mahogany in the 82nd overall pick, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R3.35 · Pick 98 · Roman Wilson · WR · rank 82
A quiet steal in the 98th pick: Roman Wilson for less than the market said. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.4 · Pick 104 · Jordan Travis · QB · rank 136
They reached a country mile for Jordan Travis at No. 104, and the board is aghast. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R4.15 · Pick 115 · Audric Estime · RB · rank 98
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Audric Estime in the Round 4 slot. It fills a real need, too.
R4.18 · Pick 118 · Ben Sinnott · TE · rank 143
A real head-scratcher, Ben Sinnott in the 118th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R4.36 · Pick 136 · Cam Hart · CB · rank 137
No edge and no loss on Cam Hart in pick No. 136; it is a wash and a sensible one. A minor itch, scratched.
R6.7 · Pick 182 · Kenny Logan Jr. · S · rank 210
Kenny Logan Jr. in Round 6, Pick 7 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R7.9 · Pick 229 · Brevyn Spann-Ford · TE · rank 224
Good price on Brevyn Spann-Ford in slot 229, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A need, and now a little less of one.
