The Patriots treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending pick 229 on Evan Anderson a full 103 spots early. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
Jayden Daniels is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The Oladapo steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
Patrick Paul in pick 46 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
They liked Roman Wilson enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 68. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
By-the-book stuff, Mike Sainristil at the 82nd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They went early on Dillon Johnson in No. 104, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Ben Sinnott in the 136th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The roster fit checks out.
Kitan Oladapo slipping to slot 182 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Evan Anderson in the Round 7 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
