If confidence were a draft strategy, the Cowboys would have aced it. Mark Perry at the 212th pick is 23 spots clear of where he belonged.
The linebacker spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
By-the-book stuff, Brian Thomas Jr. at pick No. 24 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid sticker price for Kingsley Suamataia in slot 56, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A conviction pick on Zak Zinter at No. 87 that the board grades a round light. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No drama and no debate, Justin Eboigbe went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They paid up for Rasheen Ali at Round 5, Pick 38 when waiting would have done the job. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They reached a country mile for Mark Perry at the 212th overall pick, and the board is aghast. A minor itch, scratched.
Demorie Tate at pick No. 245 is a conviction pick that outran the value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
