The Cowboys torched the value chart for Sedrick Van Pran, taking him 34 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Getting Colson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 24 they get a blindside protector at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Sedrick Van Pran this early at the 56th pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Junior Colson in slot 87 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A real head-scratcher, Jaylen Wright in pick No. 124 is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Christian Jones in No. 174 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A conviction pick on Steele Chambers at the Round 6 slot that the board grades a round light. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, DeMonte Capehart well ahead of where he belonged. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
