The one they had to fix is still broken. The Packers left cornerback untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul.
The cost of the Bishop reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They banked enough surplus on Laube to cover a lot of smaller sins.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a blindside protector. A real need, handled.
Kris Jenkins at the 41st overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 26 with a little surplus value in Junior Colson. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They went early on Cole Bishop in pick 88, and the value did not follow. A minor itch, scratched.
MarShawn Lloyd in slot 91 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
By-the-book stuff, Ben Sinnott at No. 126 squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They let Dylan Laube come to them and pounced at the 169th pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
