They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
Vidal at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 3 they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
They read the board right and Amarius Mims was the payoff at pick No. 34. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Malachi Corley at the 68th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A conviction pick on Max Melton at the 103rd pick that the board grades a round light. A minor itch, scratched.
No drama and no debate, Dallin Holker went about where he belonged in the Round 5 slot. The roster fit checks out.
They took Julian Pearl at par in pick 182, which is nothing to complain about. A fine player at a spot low on the priority list.
The board fumbled Kimani Vidal all the way to No. 215, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
