The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Packers watched Cornelius Johnson slide 32 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They are betting Bortolini proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a building block for the line at fair value.
The board had cheaper options than Kris Jenkins at the 41st pick, and it noticed. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jaylen Wright in the 58th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Marshawn Kneeland slid further than he should have, and No. 88 is lovely value for the edge rusher. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Nothing to complain about; Jaden Hicks went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They went early on Jarrian Jones in pick 126, and the value did not follow. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Tanor Bortolini in Round 5, Pick 33, miles early. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They did well to land Curtis Jacobs in pick No. 202, just ahead of his grade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Cornelius Johnson in No. 219 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
