Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Commanders were there to profit. Josaiah Stewart, the No. 53 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick No. 250. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.
The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a potential shutdown corner at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Ashton Jeanty in the 61st pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jahdae Barron in the 79th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Wyatt Milum reach pick No. 148 and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They robbed the room for Savion Williams here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They barely believed it either: Logan Brown still on the board at No. 238. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They will replay Josaiah Stewart at Round 7, Pick 32 for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
