When a board-topper like Cam Ward slides to the Round 5 slot, you do not overthink it, and the Cowboys did not. A near-flawless weekend of work, and a A- to cap it.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it. The Justin Jefferson deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.
Pick-by-Pick
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Ashton Jeanty in No. 44, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Steal is underselling it; Walter Nolen at pick No. 78 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Circle this one: Jalon Walker at the 148th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Somehow Tre Harris was still sitting there in the 168th pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Cam Ward at the Round 5 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The roster fit checks out.
They robbed the room for Wyatt Milum here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
