Green Bay Packers

The Packers let White fall and pounced. Final grade: A-.

The real work happened on the phones. The Packers fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A-.

That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Reaching for Powell-Ryland left real value on the table behind him.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Javon Bullard and all.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.19 · Pick 19 · Javon Bullard · S · rank 19
In the 19th pick they get a rangy last line of defense at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Keon Coleman · WR · rank 36
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 41 with a little surplus value in Keon Coleman. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R2.22 · Pick 54 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 54
Cooper DeJean in pick 54 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R2.24 · Pick 56 · Ladd McConkey · WR · rank 58
No edge and no loss on Ladd McConkey in slot 56; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
R3.9 · Pick 73 · Amarius Mims · OT · rank 80
By-the-book stuff, Amarius Mims at No. 73 squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.31 · Pick 94 · Tyler Davis · DT · rank 95
No drama and no debate, Tyler Davis went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R4.5 · Pick 105 · Smael Mondon Jr. · LB · rank 103
They took Smael Mondon Jr. at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R4.9 · Pick 109 · Marshawn Kneeland · DE-EDGE · rank 116
Marshawn Kneeland at pick 109 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R4.12 · Pick 112 · Jaheim Bell · TE · rank 119
Jaheim Bell at the 112th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
R4.23 · Pick 123 · Beaux Limmer · C · rank 127
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Beaux Limmer. The roster fit checks out.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Antwaun Powell-Ryland · DL-EDGE · rank 155
Value said wait; Antwaun Powell-Ryland in pick No. 135 says they were not listening. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R5.13 · Pick 149 · KJ Jefferson · QB · rank 137
A tidy bit of business in slot 149, where KJ Jefferson graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R6.12 · Pick 187 · Gabe Hall · DL · rank 174
Gabe Hall at No. 187 is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R6.32 · Pick 207 · Bru McCoy · WR · rank 184
Bru McCoy at Round 6, Pick 32 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.34 · Pick 209 · Jacob Cowing · WR · rank 185
Somehow Jacob Cowing was still sitting there in No. 209, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Ben Bywater · LB · rank 198
Ben Bywater in the 217th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Rasheen Ali · RB · rank 227
The board had cheaper options than Rasheen Ali at pick No. 219, and it noticed. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R6.45 · Pick 220 · Willie Roberts · CB · rank 209
They let Willie Roberts come to them and pounced at pick 220. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R7.10 · Pick 230 · Benjamin Yurosek · TE · rank 237
Benjamin Yurosek in slot 230 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R7.24 · Pick 244 · Collin Oliver · LB-EDGE · rank 257
They paid up for Collin Oliver at the 244th pick when waiting would have done the job. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R7.32 · Pick 252 · Ricky White · WR · rank 224
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Ricky White in the Round 7 slot, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
