You build a draft on nights like this. Xavier Legette had no business being available in slot 88, and the Packers did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They will need McCormick to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a problem off the edge, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
The board had cheaper options than Edgerrin Cooper at No. 41, and it noticed. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A reasonable price with a little left over, DJ James in pick 58. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Taking Xavier Legette in the 88th pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Dominick Puni at the Round 3 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The roster fit checks out.
A wild overpay on Mason McCormick in Round 4, Pick 26, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kitan Oladapo at the 169th overall pick is the proof. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
