Green Bay Packers

The Packers worked the phones like thieves and earned a A-.

The Packers ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back. The Nesbit pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

The veteran additions, Joel Bitonio chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Nate Wiggins and all.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.29 · Pick 29 · Nate Wiggins · CB · rank 29
In the 29th pick they get an island corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.7 · Pick 39 · Xavier Legette · WR · rank 41
They took Xavier Legette at par in No. 39, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
R2.16 · Pick 48 · Calen Bullock · S · rank 49
Calen Bullock at pick No. 48 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R3.7 · Pick 71 · Mekhi Wingo · DT · rank 61
A tidy bit of business in the Round 3 slot, where Mekhi Wingo graded well above the range. It fills a real need, too.
R3.18 · Pick 82 · Nazir Stackhouse · DL · rank 78
Good price on Nazir Stackhouse in Round 3, Pick 18, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.34 · Pick 97 · Tory Horton · WR · rank 90
Tory Horton in slot 97 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R4.7 · Pick 107 · Jordan Travis · QB · rank 112
Jordan Travis in pick 107 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · T.J. Sanders · DT · rank 144
They paid up for T.J. Sanders at the 135th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R5.1 · Pick 137 · Zion Tupuola-Fetui · DE-EDGE · rank 154
They paid a round early for Zion Tupuola-Fetui in pick 137, more than the board wanted. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R6.3 · Pick 178 · Bryson Nesbit · TE · rank 198
Bryson Nesbit at Round 6, Pick 3 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R6.10 · Pick 185 · Tre Harris · WR · rank 183
They paid sticker price for Tre Harris in slot 185, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Michael Trigg · TE · rank 234
A reach on Michael Trigg in pick No. 217; the board had better options right there. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.8 · Pick 228 · Devin Leary · QB · rank 227
By-the-book stuff, Devin Leary at No. 228 squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
