The search is over. The Packers handed the keys to J.J. McCarthy, and the whole operation now runs on his development. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.
The Isaac pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it. The Jordan Davis pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
The Thomas Jr. pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Bottom line, with J.J. McCarthy leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 32 they get the arm they will build around at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
They took JT Tuimoloau at par in pick 39, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No edge and no loss on Calen Bullock in No. 48; it is a wash and a sensible one. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Denzel Burke in Round 2, Pick 19. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Sedrick Van Pran at slot 71 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A wild overpay on Adisa Isaac in the 82nd pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Tory Horton at the Round 3 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A tidy bit of business in the 107th overall pick, where Brian Thomas Jr. graded well above the range. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A quiet steal in the Round 4 slot: Connor Colby for less than the market said. A need, and now a little less of one.
Good price on Miles Frazier in pick 185, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They read the board right and Zy Alexander was the payoff at No. 217. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid sticker price for Taulia Tagovailoa in the 219th overall pick, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Michael Trigg at the 228th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
