If confidence were a draft strategy, the Giants would have aced it. Brenden Rice at the 47th overall pick is 36 spots clear of where he belonged.
The Corcoran pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
J.J. McCarthy in No. 39 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They talked themselves into Brenden Rice at the Round 2 slot, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No drama and no debate, Blake Corum went about where he belonged in Round 3, Pick 14. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A straight-up fair deal on Cooper Beebe at the 107th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Cam Hart at the 118th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Good price on Mike Sainristil in Round 5, Pick 7, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They liked Darius Muasau enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 185. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Taking Turner Corcoran in pick 236 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
