New York Giants

The Giants won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: A-.

Whoever sat across the table from the Giants should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.

They banked enough surplus on Fuaga to cover a lot of smaller sins. Every board in the league had Alexander lower, and that gap is the story. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.

Adding Courtland Sutton by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.14 · Pick 14 · Xavier Legette · WR · rank 14
Xavier Legette in the 14th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R2.6 · Pick 38 · T.J. Tampa · CB · rank 43
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on T.J. Tampa. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R2.15 · Pick 47 · Taliese Fuaga · OT · rank 26
Taliese Fuaga in Round 2, Pick 15 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R3.9 · Pick 73 · Jack Sawyer · DE-EDGE · rank 75
Jack Sawyer at pick No. 73 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.14 · Pick 78 · Zak Zinter · OG · rank 93
They paid up for Zak Zinter at the Round 3 slot when waiting would have done the job. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.6 · Pick 106 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 99
They did well to land Braelon Allen in the 106th pick, just ahead of his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R4.33 · Pick 133 · Zy Alexander · CB · rank 163
Zy Alexander at slot 133 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A need, and now a little less of one.
R5.7 · Pick 143 · Jack Nelson · OT · rank 173
A real head-scratcher, Jack Nelson in pick 143 is miles ahead of his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R6.9 · Pick 184 · Ricky Pearsall · WR · rank 200
Ricky Pearsall at pick No. 184 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R7.15 · Pick 235 · Benjamin Yurosek · TE · rank 265
Benjamin Yurosek in Round 7, Pick 15 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
