The Patriots treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending No. 222 on Steven Parker a full 90 spots early.
That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
A premium they did not need to pay, Will Campbell a notch or two before his time. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
No edge and no loss on Tyler Booker in Round 2, Pick 5; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Trey Amos in the 38th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Colston Loveland in the 69th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
Somehow Kaleb Johnson was still sitting there in pick No. 83, and they pounced on premier running back value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They let Elic Ayomanor come to them and pounced at the Round 4 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They talked themselves into Shemar Turner at No. 140, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Garrett Dellinger this early at slot 219. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
