The search is over. The Patriots handed the keys to Drake Maye, and the whole operation now runs on his development. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
On value alone, Torrence makes the weekend a net positive. Bills has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 3 they get a franchise quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
They took Xavier Worthy at par in Round 2, Pick 22, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Cooper Beebe in the Round 3 slot, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
A wild overpay on Blake Fisher in No. 85, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They read the board right and Malik Washington was the payoff at pick No. 103. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No drama and no debate, Isaiah Adams went about where he belonged in the 137th overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Steal is underselling it; Dwight McGlothern at the 180th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Keaton Bills at slot 193 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Ro Torrence in the Round 7 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
