The Commanders looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Jawhar Jordan at pick No. 223 regardless, 77 picks early.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
The Barton steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 4 they get a building block for the line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In pick No. 17 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
A slide stopped in the 34th overall pick, with Graham Barton worth more than the price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jackson Powers-Johnson in No. 42, miles early. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A straight-up fair deal on Ladd McConkey at slot 66, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No drama and no debate, Cam Hart went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Payton Wilson at No. 139 squarely in line with his ranking. A minor itch, scratched.
They took Theo Johnson at par in Round 6, Pick 5, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jawhar Jordan at slot 223 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
