If confidence were a draft strategy, the Cowboys would have aced it. Thor Griffith at the 249th overall pick is 61 spots clear of where he belonged.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Mondon Jr. at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
They went 8 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The verdict is harsh because the weekend was, and there is little to argue.
Pick-by-Pick
A quiet steal in the 33rd overall pick: Jalon Walker for less than the market said. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Fair-plus on Omarion Hampton, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board had cheaper options than Isaiah Bond at slot 39, and it noticed. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Tate Ratledge well ahead of where he belonged. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Alfred Collins in No. 50 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
