Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Eagles, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.
Jayden Daniels gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. They will answer for taking linebacker early while interior defensive lineman went begging. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Melton.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 9 they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
In the 22nd overall pick they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
T.J. Tampa in the 49th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Good price on Jonah Elliss in Round 2, Pick 21, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Edgerrin Cooper at No. 58 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A want over a need in pick 75: Junior Colson adds a linebacker while interior defensive lineman keeps waiting.
They let Roman Wilson come to them and pounced at the Round 3 slot. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No drama and no debate, Tykee Smith went about where he belonged in slot 97. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Steal is underselling it; Bucky Irving at the Round 4 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Somehow Zak Zinter was still sitting there in the 125th overall pick, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They barely believed it either: Max Melton still on the board at No. 160. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 170 with a little surplus value in Dadrion Taylor-Demerson. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Taking Nehemiah Pritchett in the 171st pick is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Kitan Oladapo at slot 176 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. It fills a real need, too.
They did well to land Grayson Murphy in Round 6, Pick 3, just ahead of his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Roger Rosengarten slid further than he should have, and pick 189 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. A need, and now a little less of one.
Nathan Thomas in pick 216 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, De'Corian Clark in the 240th pick, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A tight end of that caliber at No. 249 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
